Boardman Township Park focused on collaboration and strategic growth in 2025.
The park navigated challenges relating to rising operational costs, workforce development and adaptive planning, says Mia Albaugh, community relations coordinator.
Strategic budgeting, with an increased focus on community partnerships, allowed the park to continue offering quality events and resources while remaining financially responsible.
“Boardman Township Park has placed a strong emphasis on staff development and professional networking as a strategy to address workforce challenges and strengthen overall operations,” Albaugh says. “By expanding cross-training opportunities, promoting internal growth, refining workflows and encouraging stronger coordination between departments, the park was able to maintain service levels while improving efficiency and communication.”
The park has used educational resources as members of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association to prepare for potential challenges facing park systems in the year ahead.
One of the park’s biggest accomplishments was the increased community engagement across programs and events, the coordinator says.
“The park also saw growth in partnerships with local schools, organizations and community groups,” she adds. “These relationships have expanded programming reach and introduced new audiences to the park and what we offer to the community.”
In 2026, the park is focused on sustainable growth and modernization, Albaugh says, adding that community impact continues to be the main focus of the park’s mission.
“Boardman Township Park serves as a gathering place that supports wellness, education and connection,” she says.
Founded in 1947, Boardman Township Park employs 22 staff members and provides inclusive recreational opportunities, preserving green spaces and supporting community well-being through diverse programs and facilities to the public.
