BOARDMAN, Ohio – Boardman Subaru owner Rob Fellman discussed the success of the annual Share the Love event, which generated more than $70,000 for local and national charities through vehicle sales and service visits during the holiday season.
Fellman said more than $50,000 of the total stayed within the Mahoning Valley, with customers choosing to support local organizations including Akron Children’s Boardman campus and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
The Share the Love initiative, launched nationally by Subaru in 2008, allows customers purchasing or leasing vehicles to direct donations toward participating charities, with local organizations added to the program beginning in 2013.
Fellman said supporting community organizations is especially meaningful because the dealership and its employees are deeply connected to the Mahoning Valley and want to give back to causes helping local families.
Renee Fuller, Second Harvest executive director, said the continued partnership has made a major impact on hunger relief efforts, noting that all funds raised locally remain in the Mahoning Valley and help provide meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
