Bristolville Native Named Champion of Naval Sea Logistics Center
MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Michelle L. Skilbred, a native of Bristolville, recently was named the Naval Sea Logistics Center (NSLC) Culture Champion of the Year for outstanding professionalism, personal initiative and devotion to duty.
Skilbred graduated from Bristolville High School. She serves as division director for over 150 employees for NSLC Newport and NSLC Keyport.
“I feel very honored to have been awarded such an important award. This award belongs to my team who worked to support inclusion and diversity within our command and it belongs to my leadership who consistently us to value and respect each other. encourages,” says Skilbred.
Skilbred made it her mission to create a culture of inclusion, diversity, and empowerment. She facilitated Command Listening Sessions designed to improve communication on sensitive topics impacting morale, including race, gender, and COVID-19 response. She championed a barrier analysis team to improve recruiting and promotion opportunities for women. And she drove accountability and civility into each personal engagement at each of her warehouse operations sites.
“I really enjoy the people and the mission. Together my staff and my customer support the greatest Navy in the world. It gives me great pride to know we are making a difference in our nation’s national defense,” says Skilbred.
