Brite Hackathon to Help Trumbull Family Fitness
WARREN, Ohio – Brite Energy Innovators will host its annual BriteHack event Jan. 29, tasking “problem-solvers of all kinds” with helping Trumbull Family Fitness.
In the virtual hackathon – a daylong event from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. – participants will come up with ideas for how to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency at Trumbull Family Fitness. The organization is based in the former YMCA building downtown, which is “old and dilapidated” and has “inefficient equipment,” according to an announcement of the event.
Registration is available HERE through Jan. 21. Participants will complete a brief questionnaire, which Brite will use to create balanced teams based on experience, skills and technical and educational backgrounds. Teams will be announced Jan. 22.
Teams can connect before the Jan. 29 to meet each other and start preliminary research. On the day of the event, teams will receive more information and criteria for the proposals.
A panel of judges – including representatives from Trumbull Family Fitness and Brite chief technical officer Bill Whittenberger – will pick a proposal as the overall for the $1,000 prize, as well as additional winners based on their own criteria to award an additional $1,000.
