YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania marked an important leadership transition during its annual president’s dinner.

The event on Feb. 28 drew nearly 80 attendees at the Youngstown Country Club to recognize outgoing president Dave Collins of Diamond Steel Construction and welcome Chris White of Boak & Sons as the new board president.

Chris White speaks at the podium during The Builders’ annual president’s dinner as he begins his term as board president.

“We’re grateful for Dave’s steady leadership in keeping The Builders focused on supporting our members, strengthening the construction industry and building the next generation of tradespeople,” said Kevin Reilly, executive vice president of The Builders. “I’m looking forward to working with Chris as we continue that mission in 2026.”

The evening also highlighted the executive committee: Mark Kasula of United Contractors Inc. as first vice president, Jerry Harper of Connell Inc. as second vice president and Matt Benson of Straightline Interiors as secretary-treasurer.

Constructing the future workforce

For The Builders, the annual dinner is more than a ceremonial passing of the torch. It’s a moment to reflect on the organization’s impact across the region and to look ahead at the priorities shaping the construction industry.

White, who is vice president of operations at Boak & Sons, made it clear that he will focus on support, continuity and raising awareness about the role of The Builders.

“My biggest priority is maintaining the quality of the organization and supporting the work already being done every day,” White said. “I want to help The Builders continue its course and make sure more people know who we are in a massive way.”

In White’s view, the impact goes well beyond events and networking.

“The organization is very important to contractors, developers, building owners, schools and everybody connected to the industry.”

He also pointed to workforce development as a continued long-term mission for The Builders – as the construction industry works to attract the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

“We have to keep getting the message out about the trades and the rewarding careers they provide for young people,” he said.
