COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Butler Institute of American Art has received a state grant of $104,540 to fund its continuing operations.
The Youngstown museum was among more than 20 arts organizations in the Mahoning Valley to receive grants.
The Ohio Arts Council on Wednesday approved a total of 1,013 grants, valued at $23.2 million, to organizations and artists statewide.
It was the largest single round of grant awards distributed to OAC funding applicants in the agency’s history. It was the first and broadest funding round for fiscal year 2027.
The grants stem from the state’s 2026-27 operating budget, which included a record-high appropriation of nearly $53.5 million for the OAC over the two-year period.
There are three types of grants:
- Operational sustainability, which provides funding for any use.
- Project, which provides flexible funding for short-term projects.
- Educational, which supports educational projects.
