YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Less than a week after announcing the cancellation of this year’s American Holiday arts and crafts show and sale, The Butler Institute of American Art has revealed that the popular annual event will return in 2026.

The cancellation was announced by a Facebook post Friday but included no explanation. The museum did ask patrons to take an online survey to gauge interest in the event.

The museum announced Wednesday that American Holiday will return next year. In a press release, it cited the installation of new art storage space as the reason for canceling this year’s show. The process of removing and storage of art in the vaults will make doing the show problematic this year, said Susan Carfano, Butler spokesperson.

American Holiday is a fundraiser that was started over 30 years ago and draws big crowds every year. It features approximately 100 artists and craftspeople who sell their unique work during a festive weekend at the museum.

This holiday season, the museum will offer several special events.

Holiday Fun Day for families will take place on an undetermined day in November. The event is led by the education department.

Museum Store Sunday, which offers exclusive discounts for museum members, will take place Nov. 30.

Other unique seasonal events are being planned, including a Winter Gala. Information will be released as the plans become finalized.Museum members will receive invitations to the gala in the mail. To become a member, email sydneybraatz@butlerart.com or call 234 228 8521.
