VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — William Cafaro, co-president of the Cafaro Co., as well as, trustee and chairperson of the Cafaro Foundation, announced a $250,000 donation to Vienna Township to support emergency services as the community continues to navigate a fiscal emergency.
Cafaro emphasized the family’s longstanding ties to the township, noting their desire to assist the police, fire and ambulance departments during a difficult financial period.
Vienna Township Trustee Chairman Phil Pegg said the township is recovering from financial mismanagement, citing issues with a former fiscal officer and ongoing debt. While progress has been made, particularly within the police and road departments, the fire department remains strained.
The donation will help the township work toward restarting its ambulance transport service. Pegg said the township is seeking to hire part-time paramedics to comply with state transport regulations and hopes to resume full ambulance operations within one to two months.
