The video for Candace Campana’s song “Other Brother” has a witchy flavor.

There’s a full moon, black cats and flickering candles in an arcane room.

The setting fits with the hard-edge guitar-rock song, which is propelled by the artist’s forceful vocals.

The Valley-based rocker has been playing the song at gigs for two years, but she had to wait until Friday to release the video and a recording of the song.

“Other Brother” is about an incorrect choice made in a love relationship.

Campana saw the video as a suitable place for an evil aura.

“I have always been very into the witchy vibe, since childhood,” she said. “I felt this was the perfect video to incorporate my love for all things spooky and magical.”

The lyrics tell of a woman who had a 50-50 chance at picking the right love interest but chose wrong. That’s because the two options are a pair of brothers.

“I’m not going to reveal whether the storyline is true, but I will say the idea is based on true events with some dramatization added,” Campana said. “I really did choose the wrong brother!”

The video was made by Valley-based filmmaker Chris Iacono Rutushin. It was shot at some visually mysterious sites, including the Rabbit Stew store in Boardman, the Arms Family Museum in Youngstown and a local cemetery.

Scenes with Campana and her horse, Sunny Boy Jackson, were shot at her farm.

A few other farm residents also appear in the video: Barnaby, her goat, and Cobweb, her black cat.

In the scene shot at Rabbit Stew, which sells occult paraphernalia, Cobweb hams it up by jumping on the tarot table as Campana sings.

The original plan was to record the song in 2023.

That was delayed when Ampreon Recorder, where she records, was forced to find a new location after the Ward Bakery Building, where the studio was located, was sold and vacated.

Ampreon is owned and operated by Pete Drivere, who plays lead guitar in Campana’s band. He is joined by Adam Parrott on drums and Todd Kilgore on bass.
