Zoppé Family Circus returns to canfield fair

CANFIELD,  Ohio – Thursday’s rainstorms have caused muddy conditions in the Canfield Fair’s massive grassy parking area, and the fair board has taken action.

To eliminate any potential parking challenges, guests can also park at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center parking lot today, and take a free shuttle bus to the fairgrounds. The MCCTC lot is at 7300 N. Palmyra Road.

The fair board will run the buses continuously from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. between the two sites. The buses will drop off passengers at Gate 5 of the fairgrounds, according to a press release.

The parking lot at the fairgrounds will also remain open today.

Hot and humid weather and recurring strong thunderstorms have caused a sharp decline in attendance for the first two days of the fair.

The attendance for Thursday was 21,707, much fewer than the 28,850 who attended on that day last year. However, the fair closed at 8 p.m. Thursday because of the stormy weather.

The attendance on Wednesday (opening day) was 20,554 – sharply lower than the 27,916 figure for that day in 2025. It was the lowest opening day attendance since 2021, when only 17,549 people came through the gates.

Timm Schreiber, fair board director of admissions, attributes the decline to the high temperatures and humid conditions. The temperature peaked in the 90s on Wednesday.

The forecast is much improved for this evening and is expected to remain that way through Monday.
