YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In a step toward boosting regional talent retention and workforce development, the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and Mahoning Valley Young Professionals have finalized their strategic affiliation.

This alignment, approved by the Regional Chamber’s board of directors, brings MVYP under the chamber’s umbrella, enabling the launch of a new Young Professionals Ambassador Network that will help Chamber member companies recruit and retain young professionals, including matching college juniors and seniors with open seats at corporate tables during chamber events to connect students directly with career opportunities.

Other initiatives could include a mentorship program that links senior executives with MVYP members, creating a database that will help young professionals connect for business opportunities, expanding into Ashtabula and Columbiana counties and exploring partnerships with similar organizations in Lawrence and Mercer counties in western Pennsylvania.

“This is about investing in the next generation of leaders and positioning the Mahoning Valley as a place where young professionals can thrive,” said Steven Weeden, MVYP board president. “With the chamber’s resources, we’re building something transformational.”

The move also aligns with the Regional Chamber’s work to develop the local workforce and support employer needs – especially within the critical 24 to 44 age demographic.

“Every growing community needs a strong, connected talent base,” said Guy Coviello, president and CEO of the Regional Chamber. “This affiliation is a strategic lever in making the Valley a magnet for talent and investment.”

The announcement follows MVYP’s digital rollout of myMVYP, an online platform that enhances member experience and engagement. A new website, packed with networking and career tools, is also planned.

This year, the Regional Chamber and other partners launched a new website to help grow the local population and talent pool. The site offers a glimpse into the entertainment, cultural, educational and business offerings and more that the Valley offers to welcome those who are considering a new place to live, work, learn and play.
