COLUMBUS, Ohio – In this excerpt from the 57th episode of the “It’s All About the Team” podcast, hosted by Jim Tressel, Cameron Mitchell, founder and CEO of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, recounts the origin of his company’s internal symbol of hospitality — the chocolate milkshake.
Stemming from a 2002 dining experience in which a restaurant declined to make a small milkshake for his son, Mitchell used the moment to reinforce his company’s core philosophy: “Yes is the answer. What is the question?”
The incident led to the adoption of the milkshake as a companywide emblem of service culture, culminating in new-hire orientations, commemorative pins and regular milkshake toasts at major meetings.
