YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hannah Ferguson, a downtown businesswoman, has been named community engagement and inclusion coordinator for the city of Youngstown, effective immediately.
In her new role, Ferguson will gather opinions of community members, create programming and provide access to the city-owned Wean Park for community purposes, according to a news release from the hiring committee.
She will work with community groups, churches, neighborhood associations and downtown businesses.
Ferguson is the owner of DOPE Cider House and Winery, downtown.
The job opening was posted in September and attracted dozens of candidates, according to the news release. Several candidates were brought in for interviews and asked to create a plan for the position.
The hiring committee members are Mayor Jamael Tito Brown; Jennifer Roller, president of The Raymond John Wean Foundation; and Eric Ryan, president and CEO of JAC Management Group.
“Hannah embodies the spirit of our community,” Brown said. “A Youngstown native and entrepreneur dedicated to raising our community through positivity, she was the natural choice for this role.”
