YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown CityScape will honor Scott Schulick, a founding member of the organization, with the David & Pat Sweet Grass Roots Award at its 16th annual Grass Roots Gala.

The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. March 30 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., and will include a social hour and food stations.

Youngstown CityScape presents the award to an individual or group making a significant personal and professional commitment to the organization’s mission of revitalizing downtown.

“We want this event to celebrate Scott and reflect the breadth and depth of his connections to this community and this organization,” said Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape. “Scott has a hand in so many of the good things happening around town – he is Youngstown’s biggest booster and an amazing resource for positive advancement, promoting the city’s history and envisioning a bright future.”

Schulick, past board president and current board representative of Youngstown CityScape, has been a driving force behind downtown revitalization for nearly 30 years.

“Scott’s commitment to CityScape has been unwavering since he helped found the organization over 28 years ago,” Letson said. “He has served on CityScape’s board as chair and vice chair, headed several committees and was one of the organization’s strongest supporters. Beyond his board work, Scott has been a tireless volunteer and constant advocate and fundraiser for nearly 30 years.”
