A coffee shop inside a Columbiana, Ohio, hotel might be out of plain sight for passing motorists, but it has still become a fixture.

The 26 Three Coffee Shop, inside the Best Western Plus Dutch Haus Inn, 150 state Route 14, was opened three years ago by Liz Weingert. It’s a faith-based place that connects with people.

One of its earliest challenges was its lack of visibility to passersby on the highway. Overcoming it required patience, consistency and a feeling that if it did things right, customers would arrive.

“Over the past two years, our growth has been steady and encouraging, driven largely by reputation,” Weingert says. Much of the success is due to customers becoming regulars.

The shop’s March Madness Coffee Campaign brought new faces through the door, showing the staff how powerful creativity and engagement can be, Weingert says. It helped make 26 Three a gathering place.

The shop’s community involvement includes its “coffee trail” partnership with the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, which provides help for the homeless.
