COLUMBUS, Ohio – The city of Columbiana and two local organizations were awarded America 250-Ohio Spring 2025 grants.

The funding is part of the third and final round of grants dedicated to funding programs and initiatives commemorating the state’s contribution to American history.

Grant amounts up to $5,000 were open to eligible America 250-Ohio Communities seeking to plan, organize and implement a program or event that aligns with America 250-Ohio initiatives in two broad categories: storytelling and education.

Fifty-seven grants were approved for projects in 47 Ohio counties, for a total of $278,834.

The city of Columbiana was awarded $5,000 for the Garden of Eatin’ project, which will convert an empty gravel lot into a food truck site and outdoor eating area. The space will have the ability to flex into a stage for musical performances and events.

The Economic Action Group of Youngstown will receive $5,000 for a public mural that brings to life untold and underrepresented stories in the city. The mural will highlight the shared journeys and collective resilience of the people who built the community and tell a series of lesser-known stories from Youngstown’s past.

The Braceville Community Foundation was awarded $4,975 for the 2025-2026 Storytelling and Education Speaker Series, a 13-month program dedicated to celebrating various aspects of Braceville heritage and history.

America 250-Ohio is a multiyear commemoration where Ohioans from all 88 counties will be in the spotlight celebrating the state’s role and impact in America’s story.

To date, nearly 300 communities are designated as official America 250-Ohio Communities, which provides opportunities for local leaders to network, partner and exchange information with the America 250-Ohio Commission.
