YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley distributed more than $6.6 million in grants, scholarships and charitable support in 2025, according to its annual report.

The foundation awarded $2.8 million in competitive grants to assist nonprofit organizations with education, health, economic stability and quality-of-life initiatives.

Donor-advised funds contributed $526,000 toward competitive grants, and 12 new charitable funds were established.

Unexpected emergencies were met with $103,000 in emergency grants, helping organizations face federal shutdown funding disruptions and other needs to help them function during unstable times.

Additionally, the foundation strengthened the community by hosting collaborative and problem-solving events and training sessions. The Healthy Community Partnership, with support from the foundation, focused on safer streets, restoring urban tree canopy and food access. This included the Plant Power! Food Sovereignty Initiative, which distributed 800 plants to support fresh food access.
