Appalachian Storage Hub Topic of Conference June 7
CANONBSBURG, Pa. – The tidal wave of business resulting from gas and oil development in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays is the focus of a conference June 7 that will highlight the opportunities associated with the Appalachian Storage Hub.
The storage hub is a $10 billion infrastructure project that will enable chemical processors, their suppliers and customers to propel the economic revitalization of the Appalachian Basin.
Shale Directories President Joe Barone and TopLine Analytics CEO Tom Gellrich will present the conference at the Hilton Garden at Southpointe. Registration is open and sponsorship opportunities are available.
“The Appalachian Storage Hub opportunities are real. They are not just on our region’s wish list, they are happening,” Barone said. “People know about the Shell and PTTGC ethylene crackers, which are game-changers for this region, but few are fully aware of how much more extensive and expansive this region’s opportunities will be.”
Gellrich said the conference will feature experts who understand the significance of the Appalachian Storage Hub and the critical role it will play in reducing costs and enhancing the logistics associated with processing gas to produce materials that will help drive regional and national economic growth.
“There are 130 companies globally operating ethylene crackers and 90% of them are headquartered outside of the U.S.,” Gellrich said. “Many are in locations with high capital and raw material costs, so they are looking at our Utica and Marcellus shale as having tremendous potential.”
The conference is designed for construction and engineering companies, surveyors, law firms, suppliers, investors and government.
Topics will include:
- Appalachian Basin shale gas revolution and development of major chemical processing capabilities.
- The need for the storage hub and its economic growth potential.
- What state governments are doing and what still must be done.
- Opportunities for investment.
- Comparisons between the Appalachian Basin and the Gulf Coast.
