YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, has approved and appointed Brendan Considine as principal of Cardinal Mooney High School.
Considine’s first day will be July 1. Nick Beyer will remain Mooney president.
Considine serves as executive director of the Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley. Prior to that, he held leadership roles as a supervisor and assistant principal at The Rich Center for Autism and served as an adjunct faculty member at Youngstown State University. He is a YSU alumnus, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education, a Master of Music degree and a Master of Science degree in educational administration.
Considine is a violinist and he and his wife, Karen, play with the Youngstown and Greenville symphony orchestras, the Warren Philharmonic and Opera Western Reserve.
His appointment follows a selection process conducted by a search committee composed of Superintendent Steven Jones, Cardinal Mooney faculty, staff and board members.
“Mr. Considine impressed the committee with his intelligence, thoughtfulness and expertise in methods of teaching and learning,” Jones said.
Considine said he’s inspired to join the Cardinal Mooney community.
“I have a great respect for this school and look forward to being a part of the support and guidance of all of our students, families, teachers and faith community,” he said.
