CORTLAND, Ohio – A roller skating rink that has been a staple in this community for half a century has been sold to a Nevada company for $700,000, according to records from the Trumbull County Auditor’s office.

The Cortland Roller Rink, built in 1975, was sold June 16 to Suds Equity Inc. of Sparks, Nevada. Total appraised value of the land and building is $469,000, the auditor’s office reports.

According to incorporation documents filed with the Nevada Secretary of State, Suds Equity was organized in 1998 and lists Bradley Armstrong as its president.

Armstrong owns or co-owns three skating rinks – two in Nevada and one in California, according to social media posts and earlier published reports.

The Cortland Roller Rink, at 290 S. High St., closed in 2018 for two years until Skate Estate LLC acquired the venue in September 2020 for $500,000, according to past reports and the auditor’s website. The new owner, Sean Tisone of Boardman, remodeled the rink and reopened it later that year, according to reports.  Records show that Tisone died in 2023.

According to earlier reports, a roller skating rink was first constructed at on the property during the 1930s. The original rink was destroyed by fire in the 1970s and was rebuilt in 1975 by Jim DiGiacobbe.
