WARREN, Ohio – The Cover Down Fund announced Friday that it has provided $5,000 in emergency assistance to veterans across the Mahoning Valley in support of the Easter holiday.
The Cover Down Fund provided $2,500 in emergency gift cards to the veterans service commissions in Mahoning and Trumbull counties to assist veterans facing financial hardship during the holiday, a news release states.
Herm Breuer, former director of the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission and founder of the Cover Down Fund, emphasized the organization’s rapid impact in the region in announcing the assistance.
“Thanks to our generous supporters, we have been able to make a sizable impact on the veterans of the Valley in less than a year. And this is just another example of that commitment,” Breuer said.
Since its Veterans Day launch in 2025, the Cover Down Fund has focused on both immediate assistance and community-driven engagement. The organization brought the production of “Modern Warrior Live” to the Robins Theatre in November 2025, highlighting the story of local combat veteran Jaymes Poling and his journey toward post-traumatic growth.
In addition to its programming efforts, the Cover Down Fund has delivered more than $10,000 in direct assistance, impacting more than 200 veteran families throughout the Valley, the release states.
