CANFIELD, Ohio – In this excerpt from The Business Journal Roundtable Series featuring Mahoning River revitalization, panelists provide an update on the status of dam removals along the river.

Three dams—Lowellville, Struthers, and Warren Summit Street—have been fully removed, with six remaining. The discussion outlines logistical and legal challenges, including property access and ongoing litigation, particularly surrounding the Leavittsburg Dam.

Panelists also address the implications of dam removal on water levels, river navigation, public safety, and regional development efforts. All remaining dams are currently slated for removal by 2027, pending resolution of existing issues.
