BOARDMAN, Ohio – An entity affiliated with Dearing Compressor & Pump Co. has purchased the shuttered Sparkle supermarket along South Avenue and surrounding acreage for $875,000, records from the Mahoning County Auditor’s office show.
Dearco Ltd., which lists its address as 3974 Simon Road – the same as Dearing Compressor’s – purchased 10 parcels totaling 4.63 acres from Gagco Realty Co. on March 5, including the former Sparkle Market at 4121 South Ave., according to auditor’s data.
The land is contiguous with property where Dearing Compressor operates a manufacturing campus that builds compression systems for a variety of industries. The company has expanded several times over the past 15 years.
The Sparkle Market closed its doors in June 2025 after 73 years in business.
