New markets and continued support for its legacy business is propelling Dearing Compressor and Pump Co., Boardman, Ohio, to a strong 2026, says CEO Becky Wall.
Last year, for example, the company shipped its first multiple unit CO2 compressor order to Nebraska, Wall says.
“This new market, where Dearing is an emerging player, is being driven by the urgent need for energy-efficient refrigeration, stringent environmental regulations phasing out harmful refrigerants and rising adoption of carbon capture,” she says. “Domestic orders for the CO2 market will continue to dominate the order book in 2026.”
Wall says business is solid for oil and gas industrial products, despite having to navigate a complex landscape marked by regulatory changes, geopolitical tensions, an increase in energy demands and workforce shortages.
In March, Dearing celebrated its 80th year in business, and Wall says the company remains true to its commitment to diversify its services and products, invest in automation, grow its workforce and expand its production capacity.
A major portion of business this year will be continued retrofits and modifications of major field equipment that was earlier commissioned across the Utica and Marcellus shale oil and gas plays, Wall says.
“In 2010, Dearing expected this to happen, and has utilized the last 15 years to develop a team of field engineers, highly trained technicians and the right tooling to provide solutions at the customer site rather than bringing the equipment to our manufacturing facility to be refabricated,” she says.
The company is also in the process of acquiring a West Virginia-based dealer of Gardner Denver machinery, Wall says. “Their culture is a perfect match for Dearing’s mission and vision,” she says, which is to operate as a family enterprise that is connected to the community. This is evident through Dearing’s efforts such as its company Christmas party charity raffle and annual golf outing, which raised $15,000 for the Help Network of Northeast Ohio.
