“Strong communities are built when young people are given the tools, support and exposure to succeed. Inspiring Minds has demonstrated that commitment for two decades, and Cammie and I are excited to help bring the community together through this event to continue that momentum,” said Joe DeSalvo, president of DeSalvo Construction.

“This year, Inspiring Minds is proud to celebrate 20 years in the Mahoning Valley,” said Deryck Toles, founder and CEO of Inspiring Minds and a former NFL player. “It’s because of the support of companies and individuals like the DeSalvos that we’re able to continue doing the work and impacting young people.”

In conjunction with the VIP Party and Bourbon Night, the Inspiring Minds Celebrity Golf Outing will also take place June 12, pairing golfers with former NFL athletes, golf professionals and celebrities from across the country at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.

“The golf outing is one of our largest fundraisers,” Toles said. “With the funds raised, we’re able to provide academic support, enrichment activities and exposure opportunities to more than 500 young people in the Valley each year.”

Over the past 20 years, Inspiring Minds has provided after-school and summer enrichment programming to thousands of students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The organization focuses on five areas of impact: education, college and career readiness, exposure to new experiences, health and wellness and personal development.

Inspiring Minds operates eight chapters across five states: Warren, Youngstown, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Philadelphia, Pa.; New York City; Durham, N.C.; and Detroit, Mich., with more chapter expansions in the works.
