YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ohio leaders say the Mahoning Valley is gaining momentum as new businesses, job opportunities and regional investment strengthen the state’s economy.

Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel discuss the state of Ohio’s and the Mahoning Valley’s economic progress during a stop on the Heart of Opportunity Tour at America Makes in Youngstown.

Tressel says the administration focuses on creating opportunities that allow Ohioans to build careers, support families and contribute to their communities. He says the state must also ensure residents understand the career pathways available to prepare them for growing industries and new jobs.

DeWine points to new companies, startups and business investment as signs of confidence in the Valley. He says Ohio’s employment numbers, business climate and economic development strategy continue to strengthen, while local partnerships remain critical to converting statewide momentum into regional growth.

DeWine also highlights investments in infrastructure and efforts to create a predictable business environment. He says the Valley’s unique economic assets and local organizations position the region to capitalize on future opportunities as Ohio competes for additional jobs and investment.
