YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The First Fridays summer event series will return to downtown Youngstown on July 4 with a full slate of entertainment, food, and fireworks at Wean Park.
The free event begins at 5 p.m. and is open to the public. First Fridays are held at the start of each month at various downtown locations and feature live music, food trucks, drink specials, art exhibits, family activities, and more.
This month’s festivities will include a Walk of Fame induction at 5 p.m. honoring local boxing legends, followed by three musical performances.
Leo D’Angelo & the Dead Foxes will take the stage at 6 p.m. D’Angelo is an Americana singer-songwriter from northeastern Ohio, and his band includes Pat Majernik on drums, Ross Montgomery on bass, and Peter Paul Burger V on pedal steel guitar.
At 7 p.m., Rev. Gill & the Fishermen will perform a fusion of alternative rock and jazz. The band features frontman Rev. Gill on vocals, Kevin Maxwell Smith on keys, Steve Fernandez on bass, Damon Poole on drums, Luke Penella on saxophone, Brandon Ritchie on trumpet, and John Blinsky on trombone.
The evening will conclude with a performance by DreWonka & the Groovaloompas at 8 p.m. The Youngstown-based R&B and hip-hop band includes Andrae Reed on keys, Dante Basista on bass, Jaywan Madison and TaeShawn Madison on vocals, Thomas Russel on guitar, and Imannu El on drums.
The event will end with a fireworks display accompanied by a simulcast from The Summit FM.
