YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Dylan’s House, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with autism in the Mahoning Valley, broke ground on a residential project that will provide safe, supported living for eight adults with autism.

The four-bedroom duplex, expected to be completed within six to eight months, will feature 24/7 caregiver support and serve as a model for future inclusive housing across the region.

The project is powered by strong community collaboration, including Sam and Donna Boak, who donated the land; Ramunno Builders, serving as general contractor; Purple Cat, which will staff and manage the home; and Trisha Howe of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of the Valley, who named it the 2026 Project of the Year.

Co-founders Kevin and Amy Shope say the home was inspired by their son, Dylan, and built for families seeking long-term housing solutions for adults on the spectrum.

“This home will give adults with autism a place to live with dignity, independence and care,” Kevin Shope said. “And it will give families peace of mind.”
