Easterseals Stabilizes, Restarts, Expands Services
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Amid the pandemic, Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull & Columbiana Counties focused on stabilization in 2021.
Leveraging technology and providing virtual services garnered improved outcomes among its multi-generational clients, expanded access and created a more engaged workforce, says CEO Jody Klase.
Services halted because of COVID were restarted, including the Adult Day Center, Deaf Kids Club and Teen Group for teens with disabilities. New drivers, nurses and aides increased employment at the organization by 50%, she says.
Additionally, Easterseals home-delivered meals and transportation services increased by 15%, with 168,000 meals delivered and 6,100 client trips conducted.
“Our services impact the lives of individuals throughout their lifespan and the lives of their families, their communities and society at large,” Klase says.
This year, Easterseals looks to increase transportation services in the three-county area. It plans to launch a preschool program, expand therapy services for children with behavior challenges and restart its aquatic therapy program. Klase also hopes to expand respite care to include after-school, weekend and overnight care.
“We anticipate 2022 being a significant period of growth and innovation,” she says. “I am extremely proud of our team and the difference we are making in the lives of our clients, families and communities who rely on us for quality services and advocacy.”
