EGCC Plans Return to In-Person Classes for Spring Semester
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Eastern Gateway Community College announced Friday it will return to in-seat classes for the spring 2022 semester at its Youngstown and Steubenville campuses.
Spring semester begins Jan. 10, 2022. Since Sept. 3, EGCC has been running online classes – exceptions for health care and hands-on classes – in response to increased number of COVID-19 cases because of the delta variant, according to a press release.
“We heard, very clearly, from our students, staff, and faculty, that they want to be back on campus,” EGCC President Michael Geoghegan said in the release. “However, we will continue to monitor the spread of the virus, especially after the holiday season, and work with our Safety and Security Committee to take necessary protocols for the health and well-being of our campus community.”
Per the community college’s Safety and Security Committee, masks will still be required indoors unless staff or faculty are in their private offices. The committee will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases and make additional recommendations as needed, according to the release.
