Emerging Leader: ‘She Helps Those in Need’

Editor’s note: In closing the book on 2023, we asked readers to nominate emerging leaders in conjunction with our story about initiatives underway in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys to cultivate leadership.

Taunya Scott Bourne, Director, Dress to Succeed

Over the past eight years, Taunya has worked diligently with men and women coming out of incarceration at the Ohio State Penitentiary and Community Corrections Association and citizens in the community as a whole.

The clothing and toiletries that she distributes are donated by community volunteers. Aside from her primary employment, she delivers food and activities to senior citizens, which was especially important during the pandemic.

For the past four years, Taunya and her group have dressed over 200 women of worth.
