AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – A family-owned Austintown-based company has been answering customers’ information technology needs since 2018.

Justin and Michelle White, co-owners and CEO and president, respectively, of Advanced Technology Partners, worked together in IT for six years at a local manufacturing company.

A few years later, the mother and son launched ATP, according to ATP’s submission to The Business Journal for its 2025 Family Business focus. Michelle’s daughter, Jordyn, works as the company’s office and marketing coordinator.

“They work hard to provide superior service, always striving to improve,” the submission says. “Launching ATP has allowed them to build a family legacy and contribute to the success of local businesses.”

Advanced Technology Partners later bought Directed Technologies. “The company has evolved from its original business model to now offering managed services plans to its clients,” ATP officials write.

“Rather than assisting with IT needs here and there, ATP now handles everything for its clients from basic IT support to cybersecurity and AI consulting to custom software programming,” they continue.

Family dynamics factor into the business. One important element of that is understanding each other’s personalities and the motives behind each other’s actions, according to the company.

Setting boundaries helps too.

“Balancing work and family is tough,” company officials write in the submission form. “Justin and Michelle, after over a decade of working together, have learned to set boundaries between work and home. Prioritizing business over family is a common mistake to avoid. Establishing these boundaries is essential for effective collaboration and success.”
