NILES, Ohio – Fashion Week, a three-day event that celebrates the latest trends, will return to Eastwood Mall, with events March 5-7.
The mall’s center court will be transformed into a runway for models, with a distinct show each evening. All are free to the public.
“Fashion Week is about more than just fashion and clothes; it’s about bringing our community together,” said Bri Ventimiglia, the mall’s marketing director. “Whether you are a student preparing for prom, an animal lover looking for a new best friend or someone just showing off your school pride, there is something for everyone on our runway.”
The event was introduced last year and was such a success that the mall decided to bring it back.
“So many people showed up [last year] to support their schools that we knew we had to do it again,” said Johnny Chechitelli, regional director of marketing and communication. “The schools who came up short last year know that they’ve got to pack the house this time to take home one of the top three prizes.”
A prom fashion show will take place from 6-8 p.m. March 5. Spectators will get a first look at prom season’s most stunning formal wear. The runway will feature dress collections from Macy’s, Boscov’s and Lavish, complemented by sharp suits from Rondinelli Tuxedo, footwear from Reyers and professional hair and makeup styling by the Casal Aveda Institute.
On March 6, the Animal Welfare League’s Dog and Catwalk, an adoption event for people who would like to take home a pet, will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. Adoptable dogs will strut down the runway.
The high school competition will take place March 7. Local high schools will compete in a high stakes event presented by Youngstown Clothing Co. Students from participating schools will walk the runway, cheered on by their fellow classmates and school supporters. The schools who bring the three biggest crowds to this event will reap the benefits, with monetary donations of $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000. Supporters are encouraged to register HERE, but they must show up in person on the night of the show to be counted.
At the inaugural high school faceoff last year, Niles McKinley High School took first place, followed by Newton Falls High School and Cardinal Mooney High School. For information on Fashion Week, go to EastwoodMall.com.
