WARREN, Ohio – Linda Carpenter discusses the history and creation of the First Flight Lunar Module Site in Warren, which commemorates the location where Neil Armstrong took his first airplane ride as a child.

Carpenter reflects on the community effort that brought the memorial to life, the role of her father and local volunteers in its construction, and Armstrong’s 2005 visit to dedicate the site.

She also shares why she believes the landmark preserves the moment that inspired Armstrong’s lifelong pursuit of spaceflight.
