YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Today in Flashback, Brooke Testa, curatorial assistant for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, explores the legacy of Idora Park, the long-running Youngstown amusement park that operated from May 30, 1899, to Sept. 3, 1984.

Originally known as Terminal Park, Idora became a regional landmark, remembered for its Wildcat and Jack Rabbit roller coasters and for hosting nationally known musical acts in its ballroom.

This year’s “Memories of Christmas Past” solarium features a variety of Idora Park memorabilia. The items were donated to the historical society by Jim and Toni Amey of the Idora Park Experience.

“Memories of Christmas Past” at Arms Family Museum remains open from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 29-31. The museum will be closed Jan. 1 through Feb. 2, reopening Feb. 3 for normal hours.
