YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Today in Flashback, Brooke Testa, curatorial assistant for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, looks back at the Tod Hotel, a prominent fixture in downtown Youngstown history.

Originally built in the 1860s by Henry Tod, son of Ohio Gov. David Tod, the hotel opened in 1870 on the southeast corner of Central Square.

A piece of hotel stationery is now on view at the Tyler History Center as part of the new exhibit, “Preserving Our Past: What’s New at MVHS.”
