YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A former Rite Aid building at 3527 Canfield Road in Cornersburg has sold for $1.5 million to make way for a new Sheetz plaza at the site.
Records from the Mahoning County Auditor’s Office show that Pittsburgh area-based McCandless Holdings LP purchased the land and building Jan. 22 from 2 Roebling Street Delaware Inc.
A representative from McCandless said a new Sheetz gas and convenience plaza is planned for the site. The company is currently working with the city on various permits and expects to submit a development plan soon.
Work on the project could begin sometime during the second half of this year, depending on permit approval, the representative said. The Sheetz chain is best known for fuel services and fresh, made-to-order food.
The development would be the first Sheetz location within the city. Sheetz has several other operations across the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys, including Girard, North Jackson, Austintown, Warren, Hermitage and New Castle.
