G. W. Becker, Inc., Hermitage, Pa., reports that its order backlog was strong headed into this year, reflecting healthy demand for materials handling systems across a variety of business sectors, company representatives say.
Founded in 1980, the company manufactures and rebuilds overhead cranes mostly for the industrial market, says Ron Piso, sales manager. It also provides installation services, inspection, repairs and advanced electrical and mechanical upgrades to these systems.
“With continued investment in people, technology and customer partnerships, G. W. Becker is positioned for a strong 2026 and sustained growth beyond,” he says.
G.W. Becker serves a broad range of industries that include specialty metals, primary and secondary steel production, pipe and tube, foundries, forging, oil and gas, aluminum, construction, fabrication and heavy machinery manufacturing, among others, Piso adds.
Last year, the company completed multiple large-scale-crane builds alongside complex electrical and mechanical modernization projects managed by G.W. Becker’s engineering division. One notable achievement was supporting a customer’s greenfield manufacturing facility, where the company designed, built and installed multiple overhead cranes and runway systems tailored to their operational needs.
G.W. Becker also expanded its footprint in the natural gas sector, supplying hazardous-duty overhead cranes to support midstream operations in particular, Piso says.
Meanwhile, new construction projects and product-line expansions are driving demand for new crane installations across numerous other industries, he adds.
At the same time, automation continues to emerge as a significant growth area. The adoption of automated crane systems is shaping the future of material handling and represents an important strategic direction for the company.
G.W. Becker, which employs 75 people, celebrated its 45th year in business in 2025.
Despite challenges related to supply chain pressures and workforce constraints, the company experienced solid growth and navigated the year successfully, Piso says.
To support this growth, G.W. Becker made significant investments throughout 2025, including upgrades to its machining capabilities and welding processes. “These enhancements strengthen our manufacturing precision, production efficiency and overall quality, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving technical demands of our customers,” Piso says.
