HERMITAGE, Pa. – With 2024 in the books, it’s the perfect time to look back on the challenges we faced, the wins we celebrated, and the lessons we’ve learned at G.W. Becker Inc.

Last year, inflation increased the cost of materials, workforce shortages pushed us to adapt, and supply chain delays tested our resilience.

But instead of letting these challenges define us, we took action.

By streamlining operations and making smart material choices, we kept projects on budget while maintaining high standards our customers expect.

Workforce shortages inspired us to focus on recruiting and retaining skilled workers through promotions and creating more growth opportunities.

Partnering with diverse, reliable suppliers and maintaining open communication helped us minimize supply chain disruptions.

Our service team continues to make us proud and has stepped up to handle complex projects and emergency field services, ensuring our customers’ operations didn’t miss a beat.

Last year, we commissioned new equipment, including a large plasma burn table, a horizontal boring mill and a dual gantry welder, that has transformed our manufacturing process. These additions have automated and significantly sped up critical tasks in precision machining and welding, enabling us to deliver high-quality products with even greater efficiency.

We started out this year with a healthy backlog that continues to grow. Automation is a key feature on many of our cranes scheduled for build in 2025.

G.W. Becker Inc. has been a part of Mercer County, Pa., since 1980. With a team of about 70 employees and growing, we stay involved in local initiatives such as the Lawrence Mercer Manufacturing Coalition and other educational outreach programs.

This past year, our partnership with the Penn-Northwest Development Corp. highlighted our commitment to fostering the next generation of manufacturing talent.

Through initiatives like the return of the “What’s So Cool in Manufacturing” program, students explored our plant and gained an understanding of the exciting careers available in our industry.
