YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Recent Mercy Health Foundation golf tournaments at Mill Creek Golf Course delivered a record-setting $462,174 in economic impact for the Mahoning Valley.
The American Junior Golf Association Mahoning Valley Junior All-Star and AJGA Mahoning Valley Preview tournaments, which were held the week of June 23, drew 300 junior competitors from across the country and around the world, along with more than 100 volunteers, 40 college coaches and two dozen AJGA staff members and interns, a news release states.
The economic boost came from visitor spending on lodging, dining, entertainment and transportation.
Since it began in 2016, the event has contributed more than $3.58 million to the Valley’s economy and has raised more than $74,350 for local charities, the release states.
