YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries is introducing a new community initiative, the Thrift Trail, a collaborative event uniting local mission-based thrift stores.
Launching Tuesday in recognition of Giving Tuesday, the Thrift Trail will give the community a way to support multiple nonprofit organizations at once, a news release states.
The trail will run from Jan. 12 to March 31, giving shoppers more than two months to visit every participating shop, collect their trail mark codes and complete the experience at their own pace. Participants can obtain a Thrift Trail map in advance beginning Tuesday.
Participating locations include:
- Goodwill Industries (10 locations in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania).
- Salvation Army (tentative).
- St. Vincent de Paul Thrift & Furniture Store (two locations).
- The Menagerie (Animal Welfare League).
- The Way Station (three locations).
- Angels Missions.
- Penny Pinchers Consignment Store.
- The Veterans Outreach Depot.
- Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
Every finished map returned to Goodwill will enter participants into a grand prize drawing valued at over $500, featuring gift cards and contributions from each participating Thrift Trail merchant.
“This Giving Tuesday felt like the perfect moment to launch something uplifting and collaborative,” Goodwill CEO Shelley Murray said. “The Thrift Trail gives our community a fun way to support multiple missions, discover local thrift gems and make a meaningful impact throughout the winter months.”
The map and more information can be found on Goodwill’s website.
