BOARDMAN, Ohio – Gorant Chocolates in 2024 solidified its flagship store in Boardman and broadened its retail reach as the company celebrated 75 years of its chocolate recipes.

As part of a new partnership with Meijer’s, Gorant’s boxed chocolate assortments are available in nine of the big-box retailer’s stores in northeastern Ohio, says owner Bergen Giordani.

One of the most exciting developments of the year was the passing of a liquor license measure by Boardman voters in November, she says. The approval paves the way for the Gorant Chocolate Bar, which will open this year at the Boardman store.

The bar will offer a blend of alcoholic and nonalcoholic chocolate-infused beverages, creating a special experience for customers seeking an indulgent and social atmosphere, Giordani says.

Gorant Chocolates enhanced its in-store experience last year, offering interactive activities and events at the Boardman store.

Customers enjoyed hands-on experiences such as creating caramel apples and building Easter baskets. The events introduced the brand to new audiences, says Giordani.

Last year saw the company solidify its presence at its new flagship location in Boardman, where production has been “successfully streamlined,” according to Giordani.

Gorant Chocolates is gearing up for more expansion this year, with the planned opening of two new locations: a full retail store in New Castle, Pa., and a seasonal pop-up shop in Columbiana.

Gorant’s two licensee stores in Howland and Austintown will continue operating under their current ownership.
