From the market president to branch managers, business bank underwriters and relationship service specialists, employees of Huntington National Bank agree it’s a great place to work.

Sixteen Huntington employees submitted the company for The Business Journal’s 2025 Great Places to Work feature.

“Huntington Bank is a great place to work because of our people and our culture,” writes Sam Huston, market president. “It is a culture of doing the right thing and looking out for people, which sets us apart.”

The company supports community events as well as colleagues serving on boards and volunteering their time, Huston adds.

“Huntington supports large events like the Panerathon, Soul to City Marathon, Peletonia for Cancer Research, and many other worthy causes that the entire team rallies behind,” he says. “I am proud to be a Huntington employee and believe this bank is a best-in-class place to work simply because our leadership cares about its people.”

John Green, branch general manager, points to the company culture as one of its attributes.

“I have worked several places in my professional career and nowhere else has ever made it so clear that our purpose is more than marketing material,” Green says. “It is all focused around colleagues and customers. People first, always.”

Taryn Puhalla, branch manager, agrees.

“Huntington truly believes in their colleagues and gives them a lot of room for growth and development while keeping a true work-life balance,” Puhalla says. “They also truly want to be a positive resource for their customers and the communities around them.”

Bresiah McMeans, an area customer experience specialist, says Huntington’s main goal is to be a people-first bank.

From looking for ways to volunteer to donating to community nonprofits, Huntington makes sure that they are going to show up “big and green” in any area they touch, she says. “Working for Huntington is a true honor and I wouldn’t know any other company that strives to make sure that their colleagues and businesses in the area are always being looked out for no matter where they go.”

Huntington Bank employees enjoy a celebratory lunch recognizing their hard work and commitment to the company’s people-first culture.

Melissa Viconovic, relationship service specialist senior assistant vice president, offers another view: “A bank is not just about financial services,” she says. “It’s about creating an environment where employees can thrive. What sets Huntington Bank apart as a great place to work is the combination of culture, values, ethical practices and growth opportunities. Huntington invests in employees by ways of training, mentorship and having the ability to advance within the organization with competitive wages.”

Arianna Cuevas, customer experience banker, nonnationwide multistate licensing system, says Huntington’s focus isn’t about money or selling anything. “… it’s really about looking out for every single customer and that’s what makes us stand out from other banks,” she says.

And Floyd Cline, mortgage officer, put it simply.

“Our culture sets us apart and I have the freedom to do what is needed to help the customer,” he says.

Other Huntington employees who nominated the bank as a great place to work are Samantha Jones, manager; Jason Szari, business loan underwriter; branch managers Tyler Kinser, Melissa Ady and Ryan Mentkowski; Jada Yancy, financial relationship banker; LuAnne Izzo, portfolio specialist; Nancy H, relational banker/relationship service specialist; and Angela Moss, business banking underwriter III.
