At Thompson Insurance Group, investing in employees and the community isn’t just a practice – it is the foundation of our success and what makes the agency an exceptional place to work.
Through competitive benefits, flexible schedules, annual office events and robust professional development opportunities – from continuing education to licensing and professional designations – the company empowers its team to grow, excel and reach their full potential.
By providing quality training, clear advancement opportunities and efficient processes, Thompson Insurance Group of Girard, Ohio, and its subsidiaries – including The Gibson Agency, PetBizInsurance.com, Gibson Agri Equine Insurance, and Thompson Private Client Services – help the team grow both personally and professionally. In turn, this culture of growth and support enables the agency and its employees to give back meaningfully to the communities where they live and work, creating a cycle in which personal development, career success and community impact reinforce each other.
Melissa Hutchins, senior commercial risk manager, who has been with the agency for 10 years, has advanced through the company and is working on receiving her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
“The emphasis our agency places on education and advancement plays a key role in creating a successful workplace,” she says. “When you work for a company that values your efforts, guides you with wisdom and supports your growth, it truly makes a difference in how you feel about your job.”
A strong commitment to supporting local nonprofits and community organizations is also at the heart of the agency’s mission. In early 2025, the agency was the recipient of the Safeco and Liberty Mutual Make More Happen Award for its work with Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, securing a $10,000 donation. The company’s contributions over the years, including the agency’s annual Community Appreciation Day, have helped provide more than 88,000 meals for families in the Mahoning Valley through Second Harvest.
From auto and home insurance to life insurance, Thompson Insurance Group focuses on helping both customers and employees feel valued and supported. Since 1947, its team has been the foundation of the agency’s success, delivering exceptional service and creating a workplace and culture that employees, clients, and communities can all be proud of.
