YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University recorded consecutive years of fall enrollment growth for the first time in more than a decade and posted its highest-ever fundraising total, President Bill Johnson said Monday during his State of the University address.
Johnson, speaking to faculty and staff at the Williamson College of Business Administration, cited a 2% enrollment increase this fall, following growth in the previous three academic terms. YSU also raised more than $30 million in philanthropic donations, surpassing its previous annual record.
Despite the gains, Johnson said the university faces continued enrollment challenges tied to demographic trends. He also outlined plans for a new public safety training facility in East Palestine and potential program expansions in Steubenville following the closure of Eastern Gateway Community College.
