YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley is accepting applications for its homeownership program, including two new homes in 2025.
“We are excited to grow homeownership across the Valley, continuing to strengthen neighborhoods through housing,” said Beth Valerio, Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley family services coordinator.
All details and requirements of Habitat’s homeownership can be found on the organization’s website.
To become a future Habitat homeowner, applicants must meet several requirements, including having a housing need, the ability to pay a monthly mortgage and the willingness to partner with Habitat through homeowner education classes and sweat equity hours. The average time in the program is 12 to 24 months.
“This isn’t a free home – it is a hand-up, with a partnership and an affordable mortgage,” said David Redig, executive director. “We are excited to be working in Trumbull County and increase local homeownership in our Valley.”
The upcoming new homes available for potential families will be built in Warren and Lordstown during 2025 and Boardman in 2026.
Applications can be downloaded at HabitatMahoning.org or picked up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd.
