YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Matthew Hazi has been named the new director of human resources for the Diocese of Youngstown.

Hazi has spent the past 14 years working as human resources director for Children’s Aid Society in Mercer, Pa.

Hazi earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from Gannon University. He then earned a master’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from West Chester University. Additionally, the Mercer High School graduate earned a master’s certificate in human resources from Villanova University.

As director of human resources, Hazi will provide development, oversight, support and advisement in human resources for the diocesan central services offices.

“Matthew brings a wealth of experience from education and nonprofit sectors,” Bishop David J. Bonnar said. “We trust that his leadership will help strengthen our core mission for the people of our diocese, which is proclaiming the joy of the Gospel and living communion with Jesus Christ and His Church.”
