CANFIELD, Ohio – After a 15-year hiatus, the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of the Valley’s Parade of Homes will return in June.
The event will run two weekends, June 11-14 and June 18-21 at Legacy Homes, with five local custom builders participating.
April marks New Homes Month, and HBA officials say homebuilders are heeding buyers’ changing needs and preferences.
“Builders are taking note of homebuyer preferences and constructing homes with less square footage, which are generally more attainable and easier to maintain,” said Zach Tabor, HBA president.
Builders are also adapting to buyers’ preferences for flexible interiors and modern features, including adding a “drop zone,” a place for keys and coats, flex/multipurpose rooms and a charging station for electric vehicles.
The median home size in 2025 was 2,155 square feet, essentially unchanged from 2024. To address a smaller interior footprint, builders are expanding usable living space with patios, front porches and decks, complemented by exterior lighting and landscaping.
“New homes are ideal for buyers who want to enjoy the ability to choose modern home features that suit their preferences,” Tabor said. “Whether you are looking to buy your first home this year or upgrade to something contemporary, newly constructed homes can offer personalized features inside and out.”
