BOARDMAN, Ohio – “Roofied,” a film written and directed by Youngstown resident Josh Hones and shot in the Mahoning Valley, will premiere at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Movies 8 in Boardman.
A red-carpet reception will precede the screening, starting at 6 p.m., with the cast and crew.
The action film – which is one hour and 23 minutes long – sheds light on the issues of human trafficking and drug abuse. Its goal is to spark conversation and drive change.
“‘Roofied’ is more than just a movie,” Hones said. “It portrays a very dark side of humanity, it elaborates on an evil in the world that is very real. But so is the greater good.”
The movie encourages viewers to be more vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
“It wants you to remember to never give up hope and look for the best possible situation when life throws unbearable challenges,” Hones said.
The cast includes Michael Munson, Charli St. Joan, Ronald Shields, David Sollberger, Maurandis Berger, Rick Graham, Shiree Wilson, Edward Lee Cornett, Dru Scott, Danny Rio, James Osso, Larry Debartolomeo, Paul Gustovich, Holly Shew, Solomon Paulk, Debbie Scaletta, Melvin Crocket, Brandon X. Bell, Domonique Lemon, Hakeem Shariff, Paul George, Brad Adamini, Angel Hawkins and Latif Hughes.
