SHARON, Pa. – Hope Center for Arts and Technology Inc. will receive 64 laptops to help improve area residents’ access to digital technology.

The laptops are being provided through the commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Digital Connectivity Technology Program, which is supported by federal funds secured through the American Rescue Plan Act.

“HopeCAT makes a tangible contribution to the lives of so many people, and receiving these laptops will give them the opportunity to further expand their impact, making the community better for those they serve,” state Rep. Parke Wentling, R-7th, wrote in a letter of support advocating for the program.

The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority on Thursday approved 117 applications that will result in the distribution of 9,122 laptops to organizations across 42 Pennsylvania counties.

“As a former technology education teacher and an instructional technology specialist, I well know the value of ensuring access to this vital tool,” Wentling said. “This is an important step forward in bringing technology and high-speed internet access to folk on the West Hill of Sharon.”
